Coir geo textiles have the strength necessary to hold soil in place and prevent erosion. The coir mesh dissipates the force of heavy rains on run-off water. Coir geotextiles also promotes the growth of new revegitation by absorbing water and preventing the topsoil from drying out. A range of different mesh mattings is available, meeting varying requirements. The lighter varieties of coir geotextiles are suitable for prompt erosion control in ordinary soil conditions.
